Bear Cottage - A Bear Affair 2009
A Bear Affair, the major annual fundraiser for Bear Cottage was held on 5th September 2009 at the Novotel Manly Pacific. It was a fabulous evening with exciting performances from the Diamond Dogs, a movign story shared by the parents of one of Bear Cottage's long term patients and, of course, an exciting live auction.
A wonderful night was had by all who attended and with the generous sponsorship and support from Navigate Financial Group, an amazing $190,000 was raised to assist in the treatment and care of terminally ill children who vist Bear Cottage.
Bear Cottage is the sole children's hospice in NSW, providing both respite and palliative care to children with lfie limiting illnesses and their families. Established in 2001, Bear Cottage provides a warm, home-like environment for families. Relying wholly on the support of the community for funding, Bear Cottage is able to offer this care, at no charge, to families.
Every dollar raised at A Bear Affair goes directly to Bear Cottage. For children who life-limiting illnesses and their families, having a place like Bear Cottage available is a life line. It is a place they can relax and spend quality time together as a family, knowing that their child is in the best possible care. It is a home away from home.
The support of Navigate Financial Group means that Bear Cottage can continue to offer the best possible care to the kids and families who rely so heavily on this valuable place of respite and care.
